Today, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-Gwinnett) formally filed a notice of candidacy at the Georgia State Capitol building. The affidavit will officially qualify her as a candidate for re-election to the U.S House Representatives for  District 7.

Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux said, “In 2020, I was the only Democrat in the country to flip a Republican seat in Congress. And I have been fighting every single day to protect and build on the progress we have made over the last year. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, when voting rights, women’s health care, and our democracy are under attack, it’s more important than ever to have leaders who are focused on defeating the extremist Republicans in Congress, not fellow Democrats. I have taken them on over and over again and I’ll continue fighting for common sense, Georgia values as long as I am your representative in Congress.”

“I am proud of our work passing into law a bipartisan infrastructure bill and pandemic relief for Georgia families, while also passing through the House landmark voting rights legislation and my bill to expand Medicaid nationwide. And we’re just getting started.”

“The challenges we face in this district are very real and the diverse communities in Gwinnett and Fulton Counties deserve a representative who understands those challenges because they work on them every day. I know the people of this district and more importantly they know me. And they have seen that no one will fight harder or deliver more results than I will.”

Congresswoman Bourdeaux will be available for interviews upon request. To request an interview, contact Titilayo Okuwa at 407-223-0016 or press@carolyn4congress.com.
