Today, the first paid advertisement in the District 7 race for the U.S House of Representatives. It's sponsored by Protect Our Future, an out-of-state special interest group funded by cryptocurrency billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried. McBath ignored Congresswoman Bourdeaux's recent calls to denounce this funding.
Communications Director Titilayo Okuwa said,
"Yesterday, Congresswoman Bourdeaux qualified to run for re-election to Georgia's 7th Congressional District, a seat she flipped blue in 2020 for the first time in decades - and after taking on long odds to make it the closest race in the country in 2018. Since being elected, she has focused every day on serving the 7th - fighting for voting rights, affordable health care, and infrastructure. Now Lucy McBath has decided to cede her district to extremist Republicans and run against Congresswoman Bourdeaux. Let's be clear about what is happening. Instead of taking on the far right Georgia Republicans and their efforts to undermine our democracy, Lucy McBath has instead decided to take on a fellow Democrat with the help of out-of-state special interests who hope to skirt Congressional oversight and regulation. The last thing Georgia needs is fewer Democrats and more Republicans, but that's exactly what will now happen thanks to Lucy McBath's decision to abandon her district. Congresswoman Bourdeaux has always focused on defeating extremist Republicans - even when the odds were not in her favor."
