“Nichelle Nichols was a trailblazer. She sparked the imagination of young women around the world to pursue their dreams and reach for the stars. She embodied the best of who we are and showed us a better world. Beyond the stage and the studio, she was a champion of America’s space program where she helped create a more inclusive National Aeronautics and Space Agency — one that drew upon the diverse potential of our nation as we pushed into the final frontier. While we are sad today because of her passing, her life, art, and passion will continue to inspire us.”
