Today, Fox News reported that they reached out to Rep. Matt Cartwright and 19 other House Democrats to ask if they support the Schumer-Manchin bill to raise taxes, create an IRS slush fund, and give hundreds of billions to Green New Deal priorities. They also asked each if they thought it was wise to raise taxes during a recession.
Matt Cartwright refused to give an answer.
Jim Bognet released the following statement condemning his silence:
“With out of control inflation for more than a year, gas prices still near all-time highs in Scranton, and our economy in a recession, Matt Cartwright needs to stop acting like a D.C. politician and give us a straight answer on this bill. Families in our district are spending hundreds more dollars every month on gas and groceries because of the tax and spend policies that Cartwright has supported in the past. If he is going to sell out Northeast Pennsylvania once again, then Cartwright needs to get off of his private jet and give a direct answer to the families and local businesses that will be damaged by this bill.”
