Nominations are now open to play in the National Spirit of American Independence Day Parade on July 4th, 2023

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Josh Harder announced nominations are now open for high school marching bands across the Valley to be chosen to play at the National Spirit of American Independence Day Parade on July 4th, 2023, in Washington DC. The parade is sponsored by the National Park Service and will commemorate the 247th birthday of our great nation.

Harder's office is encouraging parents and students alike to nominate their high school marching band to represent California in the parade by following the instructions online here. Five high school marching bands from Rep. Harder's district will be nominated for this prestigious honor. Nominations are due by April 3rd.

"We have some of the best high school marching bands in the world here in the Valley and I'm incredibly excited to nominate five to represent us in Washington DC next year," said Rep. Harder. "If you're a musician at one of our high schools, a proud parent, or a dedicated fan, reach out to my office and nominate your favorite band today. Let's make sure the whole nation sees the talent we have right here in our community."

The Parade consists of invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIPs, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. This year will be the first time cheering crowds will be allowed to attend since 2019. Read more on their website, july4thparade.com. Click here for images of past parades.
