(Houston, TX) – On Thursday, November 18, 2021, Congressman Al Green (TX-09) released the following statement:

“Friends, we are here today because the needs and wellbeing of the southwest Houston community are and have always been a top priority. My office and I are extremely proud of the work we’ve done to support this community by helping advance the Emerging Mobility Plan with the generous assistance of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program. This program provides technical aid to develop policy and strategies to improve and implement mobility options in the southwest Houston area that are secure, sustainable, and cost effective. We believe this to be a huge investment into the people of southwest Houston because it will give them safer and healthier transit options, including an increased level of walkability and biking access. Without the support of the EPA and key stakeholders, this mobility plan would not be possible. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Council Member Martha Castex-Tatum, George Anderson, and the entire Five Corners District Team for helping turn this project into a reality. It is because of their vision, initiative, and diligence that we’ve been able to work together to keep the best interests of our community at the top. I look forward to continuing my work with them and the development of this important project.”
