Today, former Detroit Mayor and City Council President Kenneth Cockrel endorsed Adam Hollier for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. 

"I worked with Adam during my last term on the Detroit City Council.  At that time he was working for the Mayor,” said Kenneth Cockrel. “He has all the right qualities for a Congressman.  He knows how to compromise to get things done, but is also not afraid to stand up and fight when the job demands it."

Kenneth Cockrel was first elected to City Council in 1997. He was Detroit’s Mayor from 2008-2009. He then went back to City Council and served until 2013, serving as  City Council President from 2005-2008. Since then, he has also served as the Executive Director of Detroit Future City and Habitat for Humanity.

“I’m honored to have former Mayor and City Council President Ken Cockrel’s support in the race for Michigan’s 13th,” State Senator Adam Hollier said. “Having his endorsement in this race further supports the idea that when we work together, good things happen for Detroit. I know with his support, and the support of many other impactful individuals, organizations, and unions, we will win this race.” 

Former Mayor Kenneth Cockrel is the latest individual to endorse Hollier for Congress, joining former Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy, State Senator Erika Geiss, Congressman Mike Thompson, City Councilperson at Large Coleman Young II, former Grosse Pointe Park City Councilwoman Darci McConnell, Congressman Seth Moulton, and a host of other national, statewide and local voices.
