Yesterday, the Hollier Campaign announced the Women for Adam Coalition, which is an affinity group with the goal and mission to bring women together in support of Adam, make their priorities heard, and turn out the female vote.

The coalition is lead by Virgie Rollins, and has the following Co-Chairs:

  • Edna Bell, former chair 14 Congressional District and former vice chair Wayne County Board of  Commissioners
  • Yvette McElroy Anderson, Fannie Lou Hamer PAC
  • Sandra Bucciero, Community Organizer in  the Grosse Pointe Communities
  • Darci McConnell, Former Grosse Pointe Park City Councilwoman
  • Julie Bauman, Allen Park Community Organizer

The group kicked off with a roundtable on women’s issues, including a q+a and listening session with the candidate. After this event, the attendees dispersed quickly to begin canvassing doors and phones in support of Adam Hollier.

“I’m excited to be here because looking at you all – I know we are going to do this,”  Virgie Rollins said to the large group of supporters gathered at the Women for Adam kickoff event. “We know African American women traditionally get the vote out - and we know it’s going to be African American women who do it again and help us elect Adam Hollier to Congress. I’m happy to see my Downriver sisters and Grosse Pointe sisters here today, too. It takes all of us, from all corners of this District, coming together to support the best person for this seat. And that person is Adam Hollier. He is a champion for the right to choose, for better and more affordable childcare options, and will always fight for better healthcare options and outcomes for infant and maternal health.”

“Women are the backbone of our economy,” Adam Hollier said. “Sacrifices women have made throughout history have brought us where we are today - not to mention the extra load that has fallen on many women during the pandemic, as it relates to childcare, homeschooling, and additional responsibilities on top of their day-to-day work. Women are under attack in this country with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and it is critical that men start speaking up in support of a woman’s choice, because these issues affect all of us. Women have a critical voice in this election, and I am proud to have this accomplished group stand with me on the path to victory on August 2nd. Half of my senior leadership team on the campaign are women, and I am committed to hiring as many women as men, at the same pay rates, in my Congressional Office.”

The affinity group has also committed to continuing its weekly phone banks from now until election day. If you’d like to join Women For Adam, please email the campaign at info@adamhollier.com.
