Georgia

The State of Georgia is officially on a gas tax holiday.

Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) applauded Governor Brian Kemp’s signing of legislation that places a temporary freeze on Georgia’s state gas tax to combat rising prices at the pump.

“Our state leaders are mending the holes the Biden Administration burned in Georgian’s wallets. Gas prices are simply unaffordable. I’ve heard from constituents across the First District who have told me about skipping doctor’s appointments, family reunions, and job interviews because they can’t afford to get there,” said Carter. “This is more than an inconvenience; it is a crisis. I commend the Georgia General Assembly for their full, bipartisan support of this legislation, as well as Governor Kemp’s swift action to enact it.”

This move will cut the cost of gas by as much as 29.1 cents per gallon, Georgia’s current state tax rate, through May 31st.
