Following the passing of Rep. Don Young (R-AK), Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) paid tribute to the life of his dear friend and mentor:

“My heart is heavy today. Don’s presence, knowledge, and leadership will be sorely missed in the Halls of Congress and in fishing boats across the State of Alaska. One of my first days in Congress, I made the mistake of sitting in Don Young’s seat – trust me, I never made that mistake again. Knowing him, he’s probably already picking out a seat in heaven and I pity the fool who tries to take it from him,” said Carter.

“He was a dear mentor and friend. My prayers and support go out to his wife, Anne, children Dawn and Joni, and Alaska residents, who have lost a great man, mentor, friend, father, and public servant.”
