Georgia

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Today, former Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson tragically passed away. Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) paid tribute to this great Georgian:

“Senator Isakson is one of the greatest Georgians to ever walk the halls of Congress. When you were with Senator Isakson, there was an inescapable sense that you were witnessing history,” said Carter.

“I am proud to call Senator Isakson a mentor. Last year, I had the honor to watch as he and the late Congressman John Lewis embraced on the House Floor. I will not soon forget that moment, as two of the greatest voices for freedom in our generation, both from Georgia, proved yet again that respect knows no political party. Senator Isakson, thank you for setting an example for what it means to govern with integrity. My thoughts and prayers are with your wife, Dianne, and family during this trying time.”
