US Representative Earl L. “Buddy” Carter, R.P.h., along with 14 other health care providers in Congress sent a letter to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urging the agency to acknowledge natural immunity from COVID-19.

"It is important for the CDC to provide accurate information and recognize natural immunity to COVID-19 as a legitimate consideration when deciding whether or not to receive the vaccine,” said Carter. "I am, and have been since the beginning, a strong supporter of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, that does not negate our freedom over our own medical decisions. Americans should make their own vaccine choices, and their government should provide accurate information to them in that process.”

The letter also urges the CDC to work with other federal agencies to ensure all future policies and federally-funded research take into account natural immunity.
