Today, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux—the sitting member of Congress for Georgia’s 7th congressional district—announced she has picked up numerous key endorsements from Gwinnett elected officials—including two Gwinnett commissioners, three state representatives, five mayors, and six city councilmembers. Gwinnett County makes up 87% of Georgia’s newly drawn 7th congressional district.

Since winning her election, Congresswoman Bourdeaux has earned the trust of Gwinnett’s elected officials by delivering critical priorities, including billions in federal funding to support local COVID-19 efforts and invest in transit and infrastructure.

Endorsing elected officials include:

  • Suwanee Mayor Jimmy Burnette
  • Peachtree Corners City Councilman Eric Christ
  • Norcross City Councilman Bruce Gaynor
  • Peachtree Corners Mayor Pro Tem Weare Gratwick
  • Georgia State Representative Gregg Kennard
  • Gwinnett Commissioner Ben Ku
  • Berkeley Lake City Councilman Scott Lee
  • Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason
  • Georgia State Representative Dewey McClain
  • Georgia State Representative Beth Moore
  • Norcross City Councilman Matt Myers
  • Norcross Mayor Craig Newton
  • Berkeley Lake Mayor Lois Salter
  • Peachtree Corners City Councilman-Elect Joe Sawyer
  • Lawrenceville Mayor David Still
  • Gwinnett Commissioner Jasper Watkins
Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux said, “I am proud to have the support of so many local leaders. Each of them knows what it’s like to be responsible for their community—to be the one out front. They have trusted me to help them keep the promises they made to their constituents. I have worked tirelessly to help each of them and they know they can count on me in Washington.”

Gwinnett Commissioner Ben Ku said, “As someone who currently lives in the 4th, I would be honored to have Carolyn representing me in the new 7th. I know she will fight to bring funds to Gwinnett for infrastructure, transit, and technology investments as she’s done already.”

Gwinnett Commissioner Jasper Watkins said, “I support Carolyn because she’s been there to support us. She puts in the work and deeply cares about our district and families. I believe she is the type of leader in Gwinnett we need in Washington to get things done.”

Georgia State Representative Gregg Kennard said, “I have never witnessed a harder working elected official than Carolyn Bourdeaux. She is in touch, she cares about the district, she is smart and understands the breadth of issues like few do. I believe in Representative Bourdeaux.”

Georgia State Representative Dewey McClain said, “I support Carolyn because during this pandemic, she has always supported the safety of workers and families first.”

Georgia State Representative Beth Moore said,  “What I appreciate most about Congresswoman Bourdeaux is her dedication to the community in matters both big and small, whether it's supporting President Biden's infrastructure plan, advocating for the equitable redevelopment of Gwinnett Place Mall, or securing funding for our local trailway system. Her hard work has earned her another term, and for that reason, I'm proud to support Carolyn's re-election to Georgia's 7th Congressional District.”

Lawrenceville Mayor David Still said, “Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux has been hard working, digging into the details, and making sure all her constituents are well represented.  She has given back local control with the funding of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for which we are grateful.  She makes herself available to hear what the City of Lawrenceville citizens are concerned about, and is a true steward of her community.  I am honored to endorse her.”

Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason said, “As the Mayor of a non-partisan City, I only have one measure for candidates:  their consistent support for our City.  From the very beginning, Representative Carolyn Bourdeaux has been there for Peachtree Corners on transportation infrastructure, smart city technology, multi-use trails, green space, and more—and she is very deserving of your vote.”

Berkeley Lake Mayor Lois Salter said, “For many years I have refrained from endorsements, preferring to work collegially with representatives of any party or persuasion. As discourse has become more negative and blindly partisan, I now feel compelled to support Carolyn Bourdeaux who works so hard, reaching out to anyone who seeks pragmatic solutions for the greater good. We need less rhetoric and more conscientious cooperation.”

Suwanee Mayor Jimmy Burnette said, “What has impressed me the most about Carolyn is the extent to which she reads the fine print and leans into the nuances of our local issues. Suwanee is better for having her as our Congressperson, and Gwinnett needs her leadership and drive in our community.”

Additional district information:

  • The newly drawn Georgia 7th contains 60% of Congresswoman Bourdeaux’s constituents and is largely located within Gwinnett County, where Rep. Bourdeaux resides.
