Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) issued the following statement on the United States Senate passage of the “Inflation Reduction Act.” The legislation was masterminded by Sen. Joe Manchin, Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer, and President Joe Biden. The massive tax-and-spend bill now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.
“West Virginians know we are living in a harsh economic reality and Sen. Joe Manchin and his Democrat colleagues have just accelerated our nation’s inflation crisis during a recession. Democrats in Congress continue to push tax increases and government spending that will only make the impact of inflation worse. I strongly oppose this legislation,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney.
