Denver, CO — Republican U.S. Senate nominee Joe O’Dea released a statement in response to comments from Senator Michael Bennet attacking fellow Democrat Joe Manchin for standing up to Chuck Schumer and President Biden in the Senate.
The Colorado Sun reports that “Bennet went off on his Democratic colleague” Manchin, attacking the West Virginia Senator for opposing inflationary spending in Congress.
O’Dea promised to lead in the mold of Manchin, bucking his party for the good of the country.
“Joe Manchin has shown remarkable courage stopping reckless spending bills that would deepen the nation’s inflationary crisis. Why am I not surprised Michael Bennet is attacking the one person in Washington, D.C. trying to force bipartisan change?” said O’Dea of Bennet’s pot-shots at Manchin.
“Michael Bennet has been in the Senate since 2009, but has only passed one law the entire time. Manchin has said he would consider Bennet’s CTC tax credit with additional means testing and work requirements, two very reasonable requests. Instead of sitting down and trying to work it out, Bennet resorts to calling names and pointing at fingers at one of the very few bipartisan figures left in Washington, D.C.”
Manchin has said he would consider supporting the CTC tax credit with additional means testing and work requirements.
Manchin and Arizona Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema have teamed-up with Senate Republicans to stop Build Back Better and other reckless spending bills based on warnings from economists that trillions more in federal spending will only worsen the nation’s inflationary crisis.
Bennet, true to brand, backs Biden on Build Back Better. Bennet votes with Biden 98% of the time, according to FiveThirtyEight.
O’Dea has praised Joe Manchin’s independence, promising even “to be a Republican Joe Manchin.” Meanwhile, O’Dea has pledged to “work with reasonable people on both sides.”
