Colorado Politics: “Colorado's Republican U.S. Senate nominee Joe O'Dea said Monday he wants to square off with Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet in at least three televised debates across the state this fall, including an early September debate on the Western Slope.”
Denver Gazette: “O'Dea has confirmed he'll show up for the Sept. 10 debate at Western Slope advocacy organization Club 20's fall meeting in Grand Junction and is reviewing multiple other invites, his campaign said. In a release, O'Dea proposed debating "in a red town, a purple town ... and a blue town." The campaign said the Republican candidate would also welcome debates in Greeley or Durango, Pueblo, Fort Collins, or Boulder.”
The O’Dea campaign has confirmed Joe’s participation in the Western Colorado U.S. Senate Candidate Debate hosted by Club 20 in partnership with Colorado Mesa University and the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel on September 10.
One idea is to debate in a red town, a purple town that swings back and forth each election, and a blue town.
In addition to Grand Junction, where the Club 20 debate will take place, O'Dea would welcome debates in Greeley or Durango, Pueblo, Fort Collins, or even Boulder. It is a big wide world outside of downtown Denver.
Michael Bennet is one of the few statewide elected members of his party who has yet to formally boycott Club 20, a Western Slope institution that traditionally marks the beginning of campaign season in Colorado.
In 2016, Bennet dodged multiple televised debates, with the exception of one in downtown Denver.
