Denver, CO — Political outsider, successful business leader, and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate Joe O’Dea calls out Michael Bennet for not responding whether he will commit to the Club 20 debate in Grand Junction; the deadline to respond was Friday, August 19. Michael Bennet is ignoring Coloradans on the Western Slope.

"I look forward to debating Michael Bennet but it's unfortunate that he just wants to do it in Denver. Rural Coloradans deserve to hear directly from the candidates, that's why I was looking forward to a strong debate on the issues at Club 20. The Ivy Leaguer who has appeared in presidential debates doesn't appear to want to debate me in a rural part of the state. I think rural Coloradans deserve better," said Joe O'Dea.

The O’Dea campaign has confirmed Joe’s participation in the Western Colorado U.S. Senate Candidate Debate hosted by Club 20 in partnership with Colorado Mesa University and the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel on September 10. The O'Dea campaign has also confirmed participation in a debate hosted by 9NEWS in Fort Collins, and participation in a debated hosted by CBS Denver.

O'Dea has also confirmed he will attend the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce debate, while Bennet has apparently informed organizers he intends to snub Coloradans there as well.

In addition to Grand Junction, where the Club 20 debate will take place and Fort Collins, O'Dea would welcome debates in Greeley or Durango, or even Boulder.

Club 20 is a Western Slope institution that traditionally marks the beginning of campaign season in Colorado.

In 2016, Bennet dodged multiple televised debates, with the exception of one in downtown Denver.
