The National Education Association (NEA) today officially endorsed Magaziner for Congress at the national meeting in Washington, D.C of the NEA Fund for Children and Public Education Political Action Committee of the National Education Association.
“We are thrilled the NEA moved to support Seth for Congress,” said NEARI President Larry Purtill. “The NEARI-PACE members were impressed with his presentation during the interview process, and I sent that recommendation to the national meeting with enthusiasm. We’ve worked well with the Treasurer throughout his years in office and he is a solid advocate for the education and labor issues important to our members. He is the strongest candidate to represent Rhode Island’s Second District in Washington.”
NEARI members voted overwhelmingly to support Magaziner’s bid to represent Rhode Island in Congress after their April 30th meeting. As General Treasurer, Magaziner spearheaded the largest investment in public education in Rhode Island history, leading a School Buildings Task Force that has completed $1.7 billion in repairing or replacing nearly 200 schools. Magaziner has also been an advocate for making higher education and technical training more accessible and making access to pre-k universal for every Rhode Island child.
“I am honored to have earned the support of the National Education Association and incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together to improve school buildings for Rhode Island students and employees,” said General Treasurer and congressional candidate Seth Magaziner. “There is more work to do – in Congress, I will fight to make pre-K universal, lower the cost of higher education, and fight for the rights of workers.”
Magaziner has earned broad support from organizations that represent working people. The full list is at sethmagaziner.com/endorsements. Visit sethmagaziner.com to learn more about the campaign and to follow along on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
