Ready to fight for the conservative values that gave her the opportunity to succeed, Meagan Hanson today announced her candidacy for Congress as a Republican in Georgia’s 6th District, which consists of Atlanta’s northern suburbs, including portions of Cobb, Fulton, and DeKalb counties.
Coming from humble beginnings, Hanson’s upbringing instilled in her the tireless drive to defend the conservative values that have made our nation great. Hanson is ready to go to Congress and lead the fight against Washington liberals’ plans to hike taxes, defund the police, open our borders, and fund politicians’ campaigns with taxpayer dollars.
“With the direction our country is going, the America I had growing up will not be the same America my kids will live in. I’m not content to watch this nation’s promise slip away,” said Hanson. “We need a Congresswoman who will fight for Georgia’s families, not Nancy Pelosi’s radical agenda. I’ll work every day to lower taxes, end out-of-control government spending, and get America back on track.”
Growing up, Hanson followed her parents’ example and worked hard to earn a scholarship to college, later graduating from law school. Hanson has lived the American Dream and knows Georgia families need opportunities, not obstacles.
Hanson spent much of her adult life on the front lines of the conservative movement, and when her community needed someone who would fight for Georgia families in the state legislature, she stepped up. Despite running in a district most Republicans had given up on, she defeated a well-known Democrat incumbent in her first ever campaign for elected office.
Since fighting for local families in the legislature, she has continued to lead the charge against liberal activists, protect the integrity of the justice system, and defend the legal principles laid out in our Constitution.
“Conservative values aren’t just a talking point for me. They are what I’ve been fighting for my entire life – on the grassroots level, in the legislature, and in the court system,” said Hanson. “With liberals like Lucy McBath in office, our communities have felt the full force of the left’s wish list: higher taxes, bigger government, more crime, a crisis at our border, and a radical cancel culture movement that has cost our local economy over $100 million. I’ve never backed down – and I’m ready for this fight because my family’s future, and the future of those in our community, depend on it.”
Meagan lives in Sandy Springs with her husband David and two children.
