“I am encouraged to see the recent release by the National Science and Technology Council Research Security Subcommittee. The proposed disclosure forms for federal research and development award applications are another positive step to protect U.S. research from undue foreign influence. The research community plays a critical role in shaping our approach to address research security risks and I commend the NSTC for seeking public input on these draft forms. As the risk landscape continues to evolve, so too should our capacity to respond. To that end, I look forward to engaging with the research agencies and the research community in implementing new congressional direction in the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022.”
