The Joy Fox for Congress campaign today announced the endorsements of former Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts and former State Senator Myrth York.

“When I started my campaign in February, Elizabeth and Myrth were among my first phone calls,” Fox said. “They both understand how high the stakes are in this election and why we need to send a woman with deep roots in the Second District to Congress.”

If successful, Fox will be the first Democratic woman elected to Congress from Rhode Island.

“I’ve known Joy since her days as a reporter at the Cranston Herald,” Roberts said. “Since then, I have watched her roll up her sleeves and dive in to tackle tremendous challenges to make our state stronger. We must send her can-do attitude and optimism to Congress, where I know she will fight every day for us to help make Rhode Island an affordable place to live and work.”

“It is well past time for Rhode Island to send a Democratic woman to Congress. Joy Fox is the woman we need to elect,” said York. “Joy is the strongest candidate to keep the seat in Democratic hands come November. She has already been part of the successful team that beat the likely Republican nominee – twice. I want a strong woman representing us who will lead the fight on reproductive justice, equal pay and many other important issues that affect our everyday lives. Joy is the woman who understands Rhode Island and Rhode Islanders. I have worked with her and have complete confidence that she is our best hope to get the job done.”
