DENVER - Today, Governor Polis called on Congress to provide a pathway to earn citizenship for hardworking aspiring Americans who have helped our country step up to the challenges of the last year and a half.

The letter is addressed to U.S. Congressional Leadership - Senate Leader Chuck Schumer, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Leader Mitch McConnell, and Leader Kevin McCarthy.

“As our country and the state of Colorado works to build back stronger from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that our nation provides a pathway to earn citizenship for hardworking aspiring Americans who have helped our country step up to the challenges of the last year and a half. Our immigrant community has always played an integral part in nearly every part of our economy. But even more so throughout this pandemic, it was clear that immigrants are vital to powering our nation’s economy, serving day in and day out as essential workers in our thriving sectors like tech, hospitality, outdoor recreation, transportation services, health care, and other critical industries,”  the Governor wrote.
