DENVER - Colorado’s newly formed Broadband Advisory Board today announced the release of its inaugural annual report, highlighting its first six months and its priorities for the year ahead as it works to bring fast, reliable and affordable broadband service to all Coloradans.

“Access to fast, reliable internet is a necessity to connect every Coloradan to today’s global economy and help us build back stronger,” said Governor Jared Polis. “Our administration is working to bridge the digital divide and ensure every Coloradan is on equal footing when it comes to internet access. By carving out clear priorities for the coming year, I know the Board is ready to move quickly on driving broadband expansion that will pave the way for Colorado’s future.”

The board was created through Governor Polis’ Executive Order in October 2020 alongside the release of the Broadband Initiatives Report, which outlined the state’s vision to create economic opportunity for Coloradans and accomplish the administration’s Bold Four issues through changing how Colorado governs, maps, funds and deploys broadband.

“Governor Polis and the state have wisely invested in broadband’s immense potential,” said Bob Fifer, chair of the Broadband Advisory Board. “After close collaboration with communities, agencies and partners across the state over our first six months, we look forward to deepening those relationships, understanding their needs and working together to develop strategies that benefit all Coloradans.”

The inaugural annual report highlights policy achievements from the 2021 legislative session, the creation of the Subcommittee on Digital Literacy and Inclusion and the Board’s policy, funding and advocacy priorities for the coming year. Read the full report here.
