Madison Horn’s negative response to a question on Medicaid expansion, which was approved by Oklahoma’s voters, is shocking. She apparently wishes to roll back the will of Oklahomans and is in stark contrast to the position of Democratic voters.
Access to quality, affordable healthcare is a basic human right, and placing blame on those who try to access care by calling them ‘bad apples,’ rather than advocating for reform to the healthcare system to better serve people, is unacceptable.
Madison is parroting the elitist, ableist, and racist tropes we hear from the most extreme Republicans like James Lankford. Suggesting ‘bad apples’ are taking advantage of affordable and accessible health care is in direct opposition to the notion that health care is a basic human right.
That is a fundamental difference between me and the extremist Republicans, and a clear difference between Madison and me. I’m proud to be a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, and Madison sounds more like a Republican. Oklahoma Democrats and Independents have a choice on August 23—a choice between someone who will help move us forward and work for all Oklahomans, and Madison, who apparently wants more of the status quo.
