Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement after voting against House Democrats’ assault weapons ban:

“The Second Amendment is clear: ‘the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed upon,” and the Supreme Court has already declared it unconstitutional to restrict access to firearms in ‘common use,’ which is what the Democrats’ bill would do. I abhor gun violence and I have supported commonsense legislation to reduce gun violence in the past, but I cannot support another attempt by House Democrats to infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Arkansas and across the country.”
