Washington, DC – June 23, 2022....Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled in favor of the Second Amendment in a case challenging New York State’s unconstitutional conceal carry restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. Womack was a supporter of the lawsuit and signed an amicus brief in support of the constitutional rights of Americans:

“The constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans have been upheld. Foundational to our nation is the fact that our Second Amendment freedoms ‘shall not be infringed,’ and the Supreme Court has protected the bedrock liberties prescribed to the citizens of the United States no matter where they reside.”

The case challenged New York’s denial of concealed carry licenses for self-defense. Today’s decision reaffirmed the right of Americans to keep and bear arms for personal protection.

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
