Spends $12 Million On Anti-Immigrant Program While Continuing to Ignore Florida’s Affordability Crisis
“Nuñez didn’t misspeak. This is their plan for all of us.”
Today, Charlie Crist, candidate for governor of Florida released a statement following news reports that Ron DeSantis and his Administration have cruelly deported nearly 50 Venezulean and Colombian migrants out of Florida in an effort to appease his base and score political points.
DeSantis’s attacks on immigrant communities come on the heels of his Lt. Governor’s comments that the Administration would bus Cuban migrants to Delaware to spite President Biden.
The reports, confirmed by the Governor’s office, comes as Ron’s radical, extremist agenda ignores Floridians’ cries for help as an affordability crisis rocks our state, leaving Floridians facing an out of control housing market, high prices at the gas pump, and a looming property insurance crash.
“Everything Ron DeSantis does is to score political points with his hard right base in a thinly veiled attempt to run for President – but it’s Floridians who pay the price,” said Charlie Crist. “Florida is spending $12 million to fly innocent migrant children out of our state when that money could be spent on fighting to help Floridians and lower costs. This is just another political stunt that hurts our state. Tonight, the 4.5 million immigrants who call Florida home must be wondering if they’re next.”
“Venezuelan mothers, fathers, and grandmothers, who are trying to free their families from a socialist dictator, thought Maduro would be their biggest challenge,” said Karla Hernández. “Then came Ron DeSantis. For weeks, he’s been lying about plans to ship survivors of communism and socialism out of Florida. Now we know the truth. Jeannette Nuñez didn’t misspeak. This is their plan for all of us.”
