GLEN ROCK, NJ — Today, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) hosted second, third, and fourth graders at Hillside Elementary School in Allendale and Lafayette Township School for “Valentines for Vets,” to virtually create Valentine’s Day cards to be collected and delivered to veterans across North Jersey. Watch the virtual event here.

The Valentines for Veterans program connects students across the Fifth District and Northern New Jersey to the community’s brave military veterans. There are more than 26,000 veterans in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District and more than 437,000 across the Garden State.

Gottheimer also encourages Fifth District residents to show their appreciation for local veterans by dropping off their own Valentine’s Day cards at Gottheimer’s offices in Glen Rock and Newton.

“We must always have the backs of those who have had ours,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “The Valentines for Veterans program gives everyone across the Fifth District the opportunity to show our gratitude for those veterans who put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms.”

Gottheimer was joined by Principal of Allendale’s Hillside Elementary School Anastasia Maroulis, Hillside Third Grade Teacher Ms. Carrie Rooney, Superintendent of Lafayette Township Jennifer Cenatiempo, and Lafayette Township Teachers Ms. Kim Branham, Ms. Andrea Serrecchia, and Ms. Kara Tremain.
