Funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure and Disaster Relief Laws, Projects will be overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced today that New Jersey will receive nearly $1 billion in new funding thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure and Disaster Relief Laws. New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District will receive $197.4 million in new funding. The infrastructure investments will protect coastal communities from flooding and the impacts of the growing climate crisis while strengthening the economy and creating good-paying jobs.

“Nearly $1 billion is headed to New Jersey, including $200 million for my district, in one of the largest infrastructure investments we’ve ever seen. With these new funds, we will be able to put New Jerseyans to work dredging our rivers, replenishing our beaches with sand, and building new jetties and sea walls. Funding for engineering plans will protect our homes from the next major climate flooding event,” Pallone said. “At the same time, we’re bolstering our commitment to our vibrant tourism industry by investing in safe and navigable rivers for boaters to enjoy and nourishing our beautiful beaches that will continue to attract visitors from around the world.”

The following projects will receive funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law:

●Dredging and Survey of the Raritan River: $5,555,000

●Cheesequake Creek Jetty Rehabilitation: $30,000,000

●Highlands to initiate and physically complete flood control project: $128,700,000

●Sandy Hook to Manasquan for beach replenishment: $24,400,000

The following projects will receive disaster relief funding:

●Engineering and design for flood control projects along the Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook Bay: $2,400,000

●Engineering and design and flood control projects in Keansburg, East Keansburg, and Laurence Harbor: $3,200,000

●General reevaluation for flood control from Sandy Hook to Barnegat Inlet and Seabright to Manasquan: $3,200,000

The Army Corps of Engineers will invest $14 billion in 500 projects across the country, including those projects in New Jersey. These new investments will create jobs and economic opportunity, strengthen key water infrastructure projects, improve resiliency to the climate crisis, restore the environment, and strengthen critical supply chains through the nation’s ports and waterways. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was signed into law in 2021. The Disaster Relief Supplemental was signed into law in September 2021.
