Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that New Jersey will receive a total of $18,915,000 in preparedness grants, including $13,192,649 for security enhancements at 91 nonprofits and faith organizations in the state. The funding is provided through the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program’s (NSGP) Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) that supports physical security enhancements and coordination activities for nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack. Nonprofits in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District will receive over $2 million.
“These grants will help houses of worship throughout the state protect their members and will give our local communities the resources they need for security coordination,” Pallone said. “The United States was founded on the principles of freedom and equality for all, which is why we must protect our constituents from religious violence and other acts of terrorism that have proliferated in recent years, whether they are at home, work, or in their community.”
