Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull), a member of the House Budget Committee, participated in a hearing on the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) budget and economic outlook for the year ahead and questioned CBO Director Phillip Swagel on inflation impacting Iowa families, the Biden Administration’s tax-and-spend agenda, and the nation’s unsustainable $30 trillion debt.
The Congressional Budget Office is tasked with providing lawmakers with economic analysis and budgetary implications of federal legislation. The House Budget Committees oversees the CBO.
“Medicare, Social Security, and our highway trust funds are set to balloon our $30 trillion debt to $44 trillion over the next ten years, and we have no plan to mitigate the budgetary impacts of this massive increase,” said Rep. Feenstra. “We cannot tax and spend our country into oblivion to bail out the Democrats for their inflationary spending packages and blatant disregard for fiscal responsibility. As a fiscal conservative, I will continue to oppose wasteful, pork-barrel spending and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its liberal agenda that will raise taxes on our farmers and families, force small businesses to close their doors for good, and eliminate good-paying jobs in our rural communities.”
