Yesterday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) was recognized as a Fiscal Hero by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget as part of its “Fix the Debt” project for his tireless work on behalf of American taxpayers and families. Feenstra is one of only 31 members of the House of Representatives to receive this distinction in the 117th Congress.
“As a strong, fiscal conservative, I came to Congress to cut the pork out of wasteful spending in Washington and fight for Iowa taxpayers. I am committed to reducing our $30 trillion debt and lowering taxes for hardworking families to ensure our country has a strong economic future,” said Rep. Feenstra. “Representing the hardworking folks of the 4th District, I will continue to oppose reckless spending, fight inflation, and address our crippling debt that threatens our national security and economic vitality. I appreciate the Committee’s recognition of my efforts to end wasteful spending and look forward to advancing our shared mission of bringing fiscal responsibility back to Congress.”
“With inflation at a 40-year high, the national debt reaching near-record levels, and our major trust funds facing looming insolvency over the next decade, our country faces daunting fiscal challenges,” said Maya MacGuineas, President of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. “Addressing our fiscal challenges requires policymakers in Washington who distinguish themselves by their leadership and political courage, and our Fiscal Heroes are doing just that. We applaud our Fiscal Heroes for their commitment to getting our nation on a more sustainable fiscal path.”
During his first term in Congress, Feenstra has established himself as a principled, fiscal conservative. He opposed the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion Build Back “Better” Act, the $1.9 trillion American “Rescue” Plan, and hundreds of billions of dollars in liberal domestic spending priorities in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s omnibus budget package. He has also spoken on the House Floor warning against the disastrous implications of disregarding the threat that the nation’s $30 trillion debt poses to the American economy, national security, and future generations.
Fiscal Heroes are awarded each Congress to recognize policymakers working to improve the nation’s fiscal situation and fix the budget process.
