WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today in a Ways and Means Committee hearing, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) highlighted how President Joe Biden's disastrous economic policies have made life harder for women and working families in West Virginia. American households are paying $460 more per month to buy the same amount of goods and services as they did previously.
She said, in part, “The real and very present concern coming from the working moms in my district is the economy. Women are at the frontline of inflation, the canary in the coal mine of what is happening at the grocery check-out line and at the gas pump. Our families are quite literally paying the price for the policies being put forth by this Administration. In West Virginia, gasoline prices have risen over 27 cents per gallon in the last week, making it double the national rate. The impact of supply chain bottlenecks has made its way into Southern West Virginia with empty grocery shelves leaving mothers panicking about how they will feed their children. We have to do better. We must do better.
“It is imperative for us to address the inflation crisis that is wreaking havoc on our American small businesses and families. Our workforce, and the women in it, flourish when our U.S. economy succeeds.”
