Washington, DC -- Today, Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Chair of the Environment Subcommittee of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, released the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency's announcement of a comprehensive national strategy to confront PFAS pollution:
"I am pleased by the EPA's release of the PFAS Roadmap. The adverse health outcomes of PFAS are pervasive and communities of color and low-income communities face disproportionate impacts of contamination.
"This is also an issue for military sites, which is why I helped secure funding in the last National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to help clean up our military installations, including Picatinny Arsenal in my district.
"A strong, coordinated federal response is needed for this pressing challenge, and this roadmap will help set us on a path towards success. I look forward to working with the EPA and seeing the progress made through collaborations between federal agencies on research and identifying science-based solutions for reducing PFAS and their impacts in our communities."
