“I support allowing Medicare to negotiate widely with drug companies to lower prices on more than just a few prescription drugs. I’ll always look out for the people that live in Central and Southern Illinois, not the drug manufacturers that Regan and Republicans are apparently standing up for.”

Springfield, IL – Today, Nikki Budzinski, candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 13th congressional district, called out her opponent, Regan Deering, and Kevin McCarthy on the GOP’s plan to repeal the provision that allows Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.

In their recent “Commitment to America,” House Republicans again sided with drug companies over Illinois families and seniors and said that Medicare negotiating the price of prescription drugs was a “drug takeover scheme.” Budzinski has consistently supported lowering the cost of prescription drugs and supports allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of more than just a few select drugs with large pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Budzinski made the following statement: “I have consistently advocated for lowering the price of prescription drugs, which is a major out-of-pocket cost for seniors in IL13. It’s not surprising that Regan and her extreme Republican allies oppose this measure – they are hopelessly out of touch with the struggles that real people in Central and Southern Illinois are facing.”
