Reising was joined by law enforcement professionals and community advocates for a discussion on supporting men and women in uniform
Decatur, IL. – This week, Jesse Reising hosted a Law Enforcement Roundtable with Amber Oberheim, community advocate and widow of fallen Champaign police officer, Chris Oberheim. The two were joined by Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell and Piatt County Sheriff Mark Vogelzang.
Participants emphasized that the protection of law enforcement should not be a partisan issue. Communities in the thirteenth district, like Decatur and Champaign, have seen an increase in violent crime over the past two and half years. Elected officials need to ensure public safety professionals are equipped with appropriate resources.
“Thank you to Amber Oberheim and all those who participated in this important discussion,” said Reising, candidate for Illinois’ thirteenth congressional district. “As a former federal criminal prosecutor, I know that our district and our country need leaders who stand by our men and women in uniform. When I’m elected, I look forward to working with law enforcement to ensure our first responders have the tools they need to safely do their jobs.”
