Philadelphia’s three members of the U.S. House will host a free Service Academy Fair Sept. 24 for students, parents and guardians to learn more about the five U.S. service academies.
U.S. Reps. Dwight Evans, Brendan Boyle and Mary Gay Scanlon will host the fair from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Winnet Student Life Building at the Community College of Philadelphia - Main Campus, 502 N. 17th St., Philadelphia, 19130.

The event theme is “Do you want to serve your country? Do you want a world-class education and a guaranteed job after graduation? Do you want to avoid student loans? Then a service academy may be for you.”
Representatives from the Military Academy (West Point), Naval Academy (Annapolis), Merchant Marine Academy, Air Force Academy, and Coast Guard Academy will be available to discuss the service academy application process and life at and after the academies. Staff from each congressional office will also be present to explain the congressional nomination process for the 3rd, 2nd, and 5th congressional districts of Pennsylvania. All but the Coast Guard Academy require a Congressional nomination to be admitted.
The event will include presentations from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and an informational fair from 11 a.m. to noon.
The campus is accessible using public transportation via the 43, 2, 33, or 16 bus routes and the Broad Street Line. Garage parking is available in the CCP parking garage at 462 N. 17th St., next to the Winnet Student Life Building, for a flat fee of $6. Metered and free street parking are available on numerous streets in the surrounding area.
Light refreshments will be provided.
This event is free and open to the public. Students and family members are encouraged to attend.
