Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) welcomed several members of the New Hampshire National Guard, including Major General David J. Mikolaities, as his virtual guests ahead of President Biden's address to a joint session of Congress tonight.
Pappas wanted to honor New Hampshire's National Guard, who have been at the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis for more than a year in addition to being called in to help protect our nation's Capitol after the January 6th attack.
The New Hampshire National Guard has played an instrumental role in ensuring New Hampshire has been able to meet an increased need for social services in addition to creating COVID-19 testing capabilities, distributing PPE, and ramping up vaccination efforts.
"Since the onset of this pandemic, our National Guard has been on the frontlines to help us deal with the devastation of COVID-19. From distributing thousands of meals to Granite Staters struggling to make ends meet to helping ramp up testing and vaccine distribution, Guard members have gone above and beyond to serve their communities," said Congressman Pappas. "I am honored to invite several members of the Guard, as well as Major General David J Mikolaities, as my virtual guests for the President's address as a demonstration of New Hampshire's gratitude or their service."
