WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) today toured the Herbert Hoover High School construction site in Kanawha County, where the school is being rebuilt after the original structure was destroyed during the June 2016 floods. Congresswoman Miller also visited and met with university leadership at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Logan County.

"Both of my visits today make clear that West Virginia is investing in state-of-the-art education for our next generation of leaders," said Congresswoman Miller. "As we work to revitalize our great state, educational opportunities that can equip future workers with the skills to meet job demand are imperative. Once it opens its doors, I know Herbert Hoover High School will serve as an example of dynamic, innovative education for our young adults. Additionally, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is doing incredible work to make quality higher education accessible and affordable in our region. I thank both of these facilities for all they are doing and will do in the future to foster an environment of education and excellence for West Virginia students."

"We welcomed the opportunity to highlight the level of craftsmanship and dedication our member companies at ABCWV put in each and every day to Congresswoman Miller," said Bryan Hoylman, President & CEO, Associated Builders and Contractors of West Virginia. "Particularly on a project such as the new Herbert Hoover High School, where it took enormous effort and collaboration between federal, state and local officials to respond to the flooding that caused this school to vanish overnight. With the hard work being performed by our members such as Swope Construction, CS Masonry, Tawney Insurance & Safety Solutions, among countless others this facility will reappear in spectacular fashion and serve Kanawha County residents for generations to come. While the Congresswoman was certainly interested in the technical expertise of the construction being completed, she was equally as attentive on how significant a role these types of facilities play being focal points of the communities in which they serve. It brings us in the industry a tremendous amount of joy to be able to deliver that to them."

"We are so glad that Congresswoman Miller took time out of her busy schedule to tour our campus today," said Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College President Pamela Alderman. "We are always excited to share Southern’s progress and our vision for the future. She is a good friend of education and that was evident today."
