On Thursday, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) ensured prompt delivery of security aid for the people of Ukraine by voting to pass The Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act. The legislation now heads to President Joe Biden to be signed into law. On Wednesday, Congresswoman Williams also joined her House colleagues to pass The Asset Seizure for Ukraine Reconstruction Act. This bill urges the President to seize sanctioned assets acquired by Russian oligarchs through corruption or through supporting Putin, and then to use the funds from those assets for aid, security assistance, or reconstruction of Ukraine.

Congresswoman Williams said:

“This week, my House colleagues and I reaffirmed our commitment to support the people of Ukraine and the preservation of Ukraine’s democracy. These two bills will help defend Ukraine from Putin’s barbaric war and provide vital humanitarian aid. Congress and President Biden must continue to lead the world in delivering desperately-needed resources in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”
