WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Miller joined West Virginia Secretary of Transportation Jimmy Wriston to tour the Colonel Ruby Bradley Bridge construction site in Spencer, West Virginia. Located on U.S. Route 33 over Spring Creek, the bridge is named after Colonel Ruby Bradley, who was born in Spencer and is the most decorated woman in United States military history.

In 2020, Governor Jim Justice announced a contract award for the Scott Miller Hill project to create a bypass on Route 33, which runs from Ripley to Spencer. The bypass is intended to decrease the number of accesses and promote business growth in the region.

“Colonel Ruby Bradley was one of West Virginia’s finest, and it is only fitting that such an important thoroughfare is named in her honor,” said Congresswoman Miller. “Once completed, I know that the Colonel Ruby Bradley Bridge and the Route 33 bypass will help trucks and travelers alike move around our region safely and efficiently. I appreciate all Secretary Wriston and Governor Justice have done to get this over the finish line, and I look forward to the project’s completion.”
