Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement after voting to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress for failure to comply with a Congressional subpoena:

“What is increasingly clear is that Mark Meadows was actively promoting the Big Lie before, during, and after the January 6 domestic terrorist attack on the U.S. Capitol by white supremacists. I voted to hold him in contempt of Congress because our very democracy is at stake. We must know what the former President knew about the January 6th domestic terrorist attack and hold those accountable who are trying to undermine our democracy. There are not two sides to this issue: every member of Congress has an obligation to uphold our democracy.”
