Today, November 17th, 2021, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) joined over 150 House members, led by Rep. Fred Keller (PA-12), in introducing a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to formally disapprove of and nullify the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate imposed on America’s businesses and workers.
This resolution is the House companion to a resolution introduced by Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) earlier this month.
“For months I have said that getting a COVID-19 vaccine should be a choice, not a requirement of employment. I chose to get vaccinated and traveled across the Second District administering vaccines to those who wanted them,” said Miller-Meeks. “Businesses across the country are already seeing the real impacts of labor shortages, supply chain issues, and inflation; they do not need more government intervention. The government should provide the resources and information needed to help Americans make an informed decision that is best for them and their families, not creating new mandates.”
“The broad support that our Congressional Review Act resolution has garnered sends a clear message to President Biden: The American people are fed up with the mandates and government control,” said Keller. “Our nation faces a host of crises created by this administration, including supply chain challenges and skyrocketing costs for everyday goods and services. President Biden’s illegal vaccine mandate is crippling for Main Street job creators and workers. We will continue to do everything we can to oppose this authoritarian rule.”
“If I wasn’t so concerned about our economic future, the irony would amuse me: A President who claims to be a jobs creator is implementing policies that dictate who businesses can and cannot retain as employees,” said Rep. Virginia Foxx, Republican Leader of the House Education and Labor Committee. “By supporting this CRA, Republicans are sending a strong message that free people and free markets should never be conquered by fearmongering and federal overreach."
“President Biden’s vaccine mandate is an unconstitutional invasion of what should be a personal medical decision for every American and an affront to the rights of 80 million American workers,” said Braun. “Today, my Republican colleagues and I will formally challenge this federal overreach, and I urge the Senate to vote in favor of this disapproval resolution when it comes to the Floor for a filibuster-proof, simple majority vote in early December.”

The Biden Administration recently released details on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) mandating vaccination requirements for employees at private businesses with more than 100 employees. The rule will affect more than 80 million Americans and impose $14,000 fines for persons who do not comply.
