Today, Rep. Mark Green released the following statement in remembrance of the twentieth anniversary of September 11, 2001:

“Twenty years ago, the heartbeat of the United States of America changed. There are no words that can fully express the unspeakable sorrow felt by victims’ families as we mourn their loss, or the pain that has gripped our country for two decades. Sadistic terrorists attempted to destroy our values and dedication to the liberty and democracy that defines this nation. They failed. American resiliency knows no bounds.”

“Two decades after September 11th, 2001, our nation stands united in dedication to our Founding principles. We will never allow terrorism to scare us into submission, and we will never allow our enemies to weaken our commitment to freedom and democracy. We remain resilient in support of these values that cannot—and will not ever—be ravaged by terrorism.”

“Today, every American heart is filled with sorrow as we unite in mourning the 2,977 innocent lives lost on 9/11. We will never forget.”
