Today, Rep. Mark Green, a combat veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, released the following statement following an attack on the United States’ embassy in Yemen and the capture of U.S. embassy staff by Iranian-backed Houthi extremists:

“The situation in Yemen brought on by Houthi extremists cannot be tolerated. While the Biden Administration revoked the Houthis’ designation as a terrorist organization in February of 2021, it is obvious this group is blatantly committed to terrorism. Placating Iran to ensure the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) gets across the table is an unconscionable action by the Biden Administration.”

“Even though the State Department has urged the release of hostages and the return of American supplies, embassy staff continue to be detained. The Biden Administration must take immediate action. American lives are at stake.”
