Washington, D.C. — Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. released the following statement today regarding the death of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, who was assassinated in his private residence earlier this morning.
“I was shocked to hear of the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and the attack on his wife, First Lady Martine Moïse. Violence is never the answer to political disagreement. I join President Biden, Speaker of the House Pelosi, and other American leaders in condemning this act and hope the perpetrators are brought to justice soon.”
