With new endorsements, a record-breaking fundraising haul, and growing support throughout Ohio, Tim Ryan continues to gain momentum as more and more voters head to the polls.
Tim Votes Early With His Family
On Monday, Tim cast his vote in the Democratic primary alongside his family in Trumbull County. “We’re just encouraging everyone to get out early, and, you know, get their vote, regardless of who they’re voting for,” Tim said. “You see what’s going on in Russia now. You see what happens in places like China. You know, elections are a joke there, but they’re the real deal here and we gotta get out and exercise that right.”
Workers First Tour Visits Communities Across Ohio/
Tim took his Workers First Tour to small communities in every corner of Ohio, including Wooster, Bucyrus, and St. Clairsville, to meet with workers, listen to their stories, and share his plans to fight for them in the U.S. Senate.

IN BUCYRUS WITH IUE-CWA MEMBERS: “For far too many years, small Ohio communities have paid the price for outsourcing and bad trade deals, and nobody cared, [Tim] said. It’s critical that Americans come together to protect the middle class, critically important to the economy as the nation tries to compete with China.”
WITH WORKERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS IN BELMONT COUNTY: “I come from the Mahoning Valley,” Ryan said. “We’ve seen the jobs go to Mexico, the jobs go to China, and we were forgotten. What I want to do in the Senate is let all of these workers know that you’re not going to be forgotten. You’re front and center for me, and we’re going to take this country to the next level.”

The “Superior Choice for Democrats”
On Wednesday, Tim earned the endorsement of Cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer, calling him the “superior choice for Democrats in this race,” and highlighting his “unbeaten track record of success at the polls” and his “commitment to workers, organized labor and the middle class.”
ON TIM’S COMMITMENT TO OHIO WORKERS: “…it is Ryan, 48, who grew up in Niles and [experienced] both the Mahoning Valley’s painful manufacturing retrenchments and its current hopes to become the “Voltage Valley,” who is the superior choice for Democrats in this race. That’s not least because Ryan has an unbeaten track record of success at the polls, having easily won 10 elections in two different congressional districts surrounding the Youngstown/Warren area beginning in 2002, plus one for state senator in 2000.”
Tim also earned the endorsement of the Elyria Chronicle Telegram, who commended him for “playing up his roots in the union halls and manufacturing centers of the Mahoning Valley and keeping a tight focus on the economy and issues important to working-class voters…[in] an approach that’s similar to [Sen. Sherrod] Brown’s in many ways.”
Record-Breaking Fundraising
Tim Ryan’s campaign announced it raised $4.1 million last quarter, the most ever for a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Ohio in Q1.

New Ad Hits The TV Screen
Today, Tim Ryan for Ohio launched its second ad of the campaign as part of a $3.3 million TV buy.
TOLEDO BLADE’S TREVOR HUBERT ON THE AD: The ad, titled ‘Americans’ shows the Congressman highlighting the middle-class issues that he’s focused on in the campaign, such as tax cuts and job creation, which he feels has to be done by America’s political parties putting their issues aside.
Fighting For Workers
Tim joined Cleveland.com’s Today in Ohio podcast for a special episode to discuss how he will fight like hell for Ohio workers in the U.S. Senate.
This week, Tim showed up for workers across Ohio, supporting Starbucks baristas who are organizing in Columbus and speaking out against Tenneco’s decision to shut down their Kettering plant.
Tim was also sanctioned by the Russian government, and responded, saying he’s “‘clearly doing something right’ if he’s ‘being punished by a war criminal and butcher for standing up for freedom.’”
Last week, Tim discussed his commitment to supporting nurses and health care workers in the wake of COVID-19, telling Spectrum News, “As we rebuild from COVID-19, we must work to alleviate strains placed on our nurses by passing legislation requiring nurse-to-patient ratios. Safe staffing standards not only protect our nurses, but ensure better, more focused care for their patients.”
