The Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council has endorsed Tim Ryan for U.S. Senate in Ohio, applauding his unwavering commitment to the 100,000+ workers the council represents, and to all Ohio workers.
“Throughout his career, Tim Ryan has been a reliable partner for Ohio’s building and construction workers, and we can count on him to bring that fight and commitment to the U.S. Senate” said Mike Knisely, executive secretary of the Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council. “He has worked tirelessly to bring hundreds of thousands of good-paying, union construction jobs to Ohio through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, championed skills training and apprenticeships, and fought for strong labor and workplace safety protections for the Ohioans who build our country up. The Building Trades stand behind Tim and his workers-first priorities, and we look forward to electing him in November.”
Tim has been a fierce advocate for the trades, championing shop class, apprenticeship programs, and programs like Pathways to the Building Trades and Helmets to Hardhats that aim to create a robust and diverse workforce. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Tim helped pass in the House, is projected to bring hundreds of thousands of new construction jobs to Ohio and includes strong labor protections, like ensuring workers are paid the locally prevailing wages and fringe benefits. Tim has also been a strong proponent of the PRO Act, which would strengthen and protect unions, while making it easier for workers to join one.
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Ohio State Building Trades,” said Tim Ryan. “This campaign is about building our state, rebuilding our middle class, and making sure Ohio is ready to go toe-to-toe with countries like China to dominate the industries of the future. None of that is possible without the tradespeople who work hard every day to keep our communities safe and strong. Ohio’s workers are the very best in the world, and I will never stop fighting to put you first. I’m proud to be part of the Building Trades’ slate of endorsed candidates, and look forward to working together on this campaign and in the Senate.”
The OSBCTC Executive Board voted unanimously to endorse Tim this cycle, and he is the only statewide Democratic candidate endorsed by the Council ahead of this year’s election. In addition to today’s endorsement, Tim’s unparalleled record of fighting for Ohio workers earned him the support of more than two dozen labor unions and the Ohio AFL-CIO, representing over a million Ohio workers and retirees.
