Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, applauded the announcement that the U.S.-Canada border would finally be reopened to all fully vaccinated individuals for non-essential travel. Pappas had called on the Biden Administration for months to take this action, citing the vital importance to New Hampshire's economy.

"I am pleased the Biden Administration has finally heeded the calls to reopen the Canadian border for non-essential travel for fully-vaccinated individuals," said Congressman Pappas. "For nearly two years, travel across our northern border has been restricted, but it has been clear for some time that these restrictions were no longer consistent with science or common sense. These restrictions hurt our economy and prevented families from being able to see friends and loved ones after nearly two years apart. That is why I repeatedly called on the Administration to safely reopen the border to facilitate tourism, allow friends and family to reunite, and relieve burdens on cross-border companies. I am grateful for this announcement and what it will mean for people and businesses on both sides of the border."

In June, Rep. Pappas joined a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas urging the safe re-opening of the U.S.-Canadian border.

In July, Rep. Pappas sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging the administration to re-open the U.S.-Canada border and allow vaccinated Canadians to visit the United States.

In September, Rep. Pappas joined a letter calling for President Biden to reopen the border to vaccinated, non-essential Canadian travelers.
