Washington, D.C. — Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. called the three winners of the Congressional App Challenge from New Jersey’s 10th District today to congratulate them on the award.  The winners were Mena Filfil and Mark Vishnudatt from William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City, NJ and Meret Filfil from the Infinity Institute in Jersey City, NJ.  They won for an app called HealthQuest, which reminds people when to take medications and rewards them when they do it on time.

“I wanted to call and congratulate them personally because this is an amazing accomplishment,” said Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr.  “This app could help millions of Americans who need to take medications on a timely basis.  I am very proud of them and hope more students send in submissions for next year’s Congressional App Challenge.”

The Congressional App Challenge is a technology contest conducted in Congressional districts throughout the country to reward students for computer and social media applications that could help society.  It is designed to encourage middle and high school students to learn how to code and pursue careers in computer science.
